Family: I live with Patricia, my domestic partner of 29 years in the Ingleside District in San Francisco.

Interests: I'm an amateur clarinet player and music composer.  My band Umzist plays free concerts to Jewish elders in San Francisco, and in the past 2 years I've been studying modern classical music at the San Francisco Community Music Center.  Also I am a long term human rights advocate for prisoners, and currently work with the American Public Health Association, California Prison Focus and the WHO Health in Prison Project
