Family: I live with Patricia, my domestic partner of 31 years in the Ingleside District in San Francisco

 

Interests: I’m an amateur clarinet player and music composer.  My band Umzist plays free concerts to Jewish elders in San Francisco.  I am studying classical music and play with members of the Chamber Musicians of Northern California.  Also I play with a neighborhood jazz band called The Westwood Jamberries and with a local marching band, The Musicians Action Group.  I am a long term human rights advocate for prisoners and currently work with the American Public Health Association and the WHO Health in Prison Project.  Finally I am a Board member of Or Shalom Jewish Community, a Reconstructionist Temple in San Francisco.
